Apocryphal Information - Writers and Artists Guidelines
Last updated: 4/4/95
We've only got a few simple guidelines:
- All submissions (except for reviews and feature articles)
must be as generic as possible. They should be specific
to no particular game system (especially TSR systems),
but should be easily translatable to any system. In the
Features section you can find an article on Envoy created by Peter Adkison of
Wizards of the Coast, that was originally published by
Steve Jackson Games in issue #3 of Pyramid. Please
use those standards for creating entities for Apocrypha.
- If you write an article, monster, item, etc. for a
specific gaming system (which can not be any TSR system),
make sure you follow the publisher's copyright
requirement. Many of them allow you to publish as long as
you acknowledge their copyright.
- Spell check all documents and use good grammar and
writing style. If you are unsure of what this means, buy
Strunk and White's Elements of Style. It should be
available in most bookstores and all college stores.
- Reviews must be more than "this game sucks" or
"this is a great supplement." Explain why it is
good or bad, what it adds to the gaming experience, how
it could be used by GM's or players, how you used it,
etc.
- All submissions will be by electronic mail. E-mail all
submissions to me (alesh@pobox.com)
either in plain text or uuencoded Microsoft Word of
Windows compatible documents. Artwork should be scanned
(if hand drawn) or created on the computer, uuencoded and
then e-mailed to me. If you do not have access to a
scanner or encoding software, send me an e-mail
describing both your difficulty and a description of what
you want to submit and we will work something out.
All the following are needed:
- ARTWORK!!! (b/w or color)
- Feature articles
- Game, book, supplement, etc.
- Reviews
- Short Fiction
- Tricks and Traps
- New Technology and/or Magic Items
- New Creatures
- New Spells, Skills, and/or Superpowers
- Notices
- Humor
- Convention notices
- Release notices
- And anything else you can imagine!
I will respond within two weeks to any submission. If you
have any questions, please e-mail
me.
